School Direct non-salaried

A School Direct non-salaried course involves schools working in partnership with a range of providers, including some Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and School-Centred Initial Teacher Training Centres (SCITTs), to provide candidates with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) only or a PGCE qualification.

In partnership with the Cambridge Teaching School Network SCITT, we offer a QTS only course with placements in the following subjects:

  • Secondary Art & Design

  • Secondary Biology

  • Secondary Chemistry

  • Secondary Design & Technology

  • Secondary English

  • Secondary Geography

  • Secondary History

  • Secondary Mathematics

  • Secondary Modern Foreign Languages

  • Secondary Physical Education

  • Secondary Physics

  • Primary - General

 

Entry Criteria

Non-salaried Secondary School Direct route through CTSN SCITT

To be eligible to apply for the non-salaried secondary School Direct route you will need the following:

A minimum of a 2.2 degree and at least 50% of your degree should be in the subject you wish to teach
A 'C' grade or above in English and Maths GCSE
To have passed the QTS skills tests in English and Maths before starting the course (not before interview)

Non-salaried Primary School Direct route through CTSN SCITT

To be eligible to apply for the non-salaried primary School Direct route you will need the following:

A minimum of a 2.2 degree.
A 'C' grade or above in English, Maths and Science GCSE
To have passed the QTS skills tests in English and Maths before starting the course (not before interview)

 

Fees & Funding

The fees for the School Direct QTS course we offer in partnership with CTSN SCITT are £9000.

You may be entitled to a bursary from the Teaching Agency to contribute to the cost of your training. This will depend on the phase and subject you wish to teach, and your class of degree.
